Seahurst Science & Nature Program

"Natural enrichment on a learning journey guided by the senses"

Every single time, we have had magical time experiencing and learning about nature with Kevin. He has a very keen sense, great eyes, and an extensive knowledge of Nature. He interacts constantly with every child, helping them connect with Nature. This is why my daughter had a great time in his class from the first time we attended, even though she is very shy. I highly recommend Kevin’s class as it will give your children a great opportunity to experience and learn about all the great things found in nature in the Pacific Northwest. Hiromi -home school mom of Aya

"It's just amazing!  I love that Porcupine takes us off-trail so we see things we normally wouldn't see. Porcupine is such a fun teacher!"  --Sophia, age 12

Why enroll today?

If your child is ready to adventure and explore the natural world we would love to have them join our group.  This is a program that teaches hands-on science and nature connection. By slowing down and asking questions this program taps into the intuitive learning, one driven by the senses.  Give your kid a break from structure and being on time. How about a mind that knows how to survive in the wild one that knows the plants that are safe to eat and that knows where to build a primitive shelter. We will practice primitive friction fire making techniques. By asking questions, observing and allowing for creativity, Kevin will be teaching how to approach a new subject with an intuitive mind not a subject that has been studied over and over with the same results.  This class will be small 12 kids ages 10-14 so please sign up soon as spots will go fast.

About our teacher: Wilderness Awareness School Trained Naturalist Kevin "Porcupine" O'Malley has been leading adult and family courses in nature for over a decade.  He's particularly skillful in guiding children to have experiences that connect them to the Nature that surrounds them and to inspire questions with answers to be found on another day in the woods.

Our day starts, at Seahurst Park in Burein, times 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. Your child will have to bring a lunch, water, rain gear in an over the shoulder backpack. Bathrooms and drinking fountains are at the park.

The program meets on Friday’s 9 times Sept-May and the cost will be fixed. You will be asked to commit to 9 classes Sept-May at $500 . Sibling discounts available use SIBLING at check out.
