Marvista AS Nature
Marvista AS Nature
(2:15 - 4:15)
Friday’s Jan - May 20256
(Starts Jan 17th Ends May 23rd)
Marvista Park & Nature Trails is a perfect place to have an outdoor after school exploration & adventure. Marvista Park & Nature Trails has everything we need to learn about the plants and animals, play awareness games and use nature to calm our nervous system. Skills we learn in the field will be applicable to home and school as your child acquires tools for listening, focusing, and having a relationship with science and place through intuition (sensory) intelligence.
Testimonial : The Magic of Nature Trails—Appreciating Nature and Each Other
“Excited and jubilant first-grade children with several adult volunteers make their way to the head of Nature Trails Park. Leading the group of more than twenty Marvista Elementary children, their naturalist instructor known as “Porcupine” motions them to stop and gather at wooden steps underneath a canopy of trees and falling leaves of all shapes, sizes, and colors. He challenges them to be silent now in order to tune their senses to the beauty of nature all around them. Like magic it becomes quiet as the young children respond and make their way down the steps and onto the trail.”

About our teacher: Ali (she/her) grew up between the wilds of Northern Arizona and Tokyo, Japan, where she was lucky enough to play freely in the outdoors creating such vivid memories of her adventures that she still finds herself sizing up trees for their climb-ability, looking for sticks to race down streams or introducing herself to new plant friends. She returned to the US to earn degrees in Visual Anthropology and Photography from University of Southern California and Visual Communications from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Most recently, Ali completed The Wilderness Awareness School’s Youth Nature Instructor Apprenticeship in Duvall, WA.
While she has worked with kids her entire life, Ali began working in a school setting in 2004 which grew into opening a process based kid’s art studio in Southern California. She is a certified Tinkergarten Leader and explored outdoors with kids and their grown-ups from 2016-2022. And for the last 4 years she worked as an Outdoor Explorations teacher at the Bridge School allowing her to get outside weekly with a group of elementary schoolers to explore and learn at Seahurst Park.
